Type Locality and Naming

By the Oguz village, south-eastern Takhatau Mountains, Central Kyzylkum. Z.S.Rumyantseva, 1965 (457, p. 341). Stratotype in the south-eastern termination of the Takhatau Mountains north of the Oguz village.

Synonym: Oguzskaya Suite, Огузская св.


Lithology and Thickness

At the bottom, coarse clastic conglomerates with lenticular interlayers of gravelites and sandstones; at the top, interbedding of sandstones with gravelites and small-pebble conglomerates, less frequently with interlayers of limestones, argillites, and siltstone (aleurolites). Thickness up to 1000 m, in the Takhatau Mountains - 1300-1800 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Lies transgressively on the Azhriktin Fm (Ajrictinian Fm)

Upper contact

It is overlain conformably by the Dzheltumsuk Fm.

Regional extent

Central Kyzylkum, Takhatau, Bukantau, Jetymtau Mountains. It is the middle part of the Takhatau Fm (165).

Fossils

In the lower part, foraminifers - Fusiella praetypica Saf., Neostaffella umbilicata (Putr et Leont.), Hemifusulina subrhomboides Raus.; brachiopods - Meekella eximia Eichw., Chaoiella grıenewaldti Krot., Marginifera baschkirica Ivan., Linoproductus cora Orb., Choristites priscus Eichw., plant remains - Lepidodendron ex gr. kirghizicum Zal., Mesocalamites sp., Neuropteris sp., Alethopteris sp., Walchia sp.; in the upper part, foraminifers - Schubertella subkingi Putr., Fusiella praecursor Raus., Hemifusulina splendida rhomboidalis Raus.; plant remains - Calamites gigas Brongn., Pecopteris ex gr. miltonii (Artis.) Zeill. Corresponds to the Fusulina camensis zone.


Age 

Belongs to the upper Moscovian substage. Initially, 3.S.Rumyantseva considered that the O. suite by age corresponds to the Kashirskian horizon of the early Moscovian time (166; 457). Later (386; 439) she assigned the suite to the Aktorekian horizon of the upper Moscovian substage based on foraminifers.
